Each year CABCO works with the California legislature on legislation that will make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer. The following bill is being supported by CABCO in the 2009 legislative year.
Senate Bill 161,Health Care Coverage; Cancer Treatment, introduced by Senator Wright would require that health care service plans and health insurance companies that cover chemotherapy for cancer treatment provide coverage for a prescribed,orally administered cancer medication on a basis the same as that for the injectable or intravenously administered cancer therapies.
Both the Assembly and the Senate passed SB 161 and it was sent to
the Governor.
On October 11, Governor Schwartzenegger VETOED this bill.
