Each year CABCO works with the California legislature on legislation that will make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer. The following are the priorities that are being followed for the 2007 legislative year.
1 Access to Quality
Healthcare for All
In line with the priorities of the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC ),
CABCO supports provision of access to quality healthcare for all. NBCC has established
"Principles for Healthcare Coverage." Any legislation will be measured
against these principles before decisions whether to support or not support
are made.
2. Renewal of Tax Check-off Line - Support AB 28
AB28 extends the check-off line on California personal income ms through 2013.
This line allows California voters the opportunity to make a tax-deductible
donation to support the California Breast Cancer Research Program.
This bill passed and was signed by the Governor. The tax check-off line will now continue through 2013.
3- Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening and Treatment Programs
CABCO will be monitoring the budget and the policies of the governor toward
the breast and cervical cancerscreening and treatment (MediCal) programs to
be sure that the funding is maintained for these important programs.
